Water Project Completion
This morning, City of Washington Mayor Ryan Kern cut the ribbon on the official completion of the Water Project. The project, which took right around 2 years from start of the application process to final completion, included replacing water mains, meters, valves and hydrants, and installation of Automated Meter Reading system.
The upgrades to critical infrastructure were much needed, and the community will benefit from the end result for many years.
Following the ribbon cutting, Public Works Superintendent Chris Milam presented City Administrator Carl Chalfant a plaque created from the very first piece of piping removed during the project, which was signed by city employees and project partners. Chris expressed thanks to Carl for his dedication to the project, and praised his leadership, guidance and direction.
The City of Washington is thankful to the community, both residents and businesses, for their patience during the project.
