City of Washington Selected as a Recipient of Kansas Department of Transportation’s 2023 Spring Cost Share Program

The Washington City Council is pleased to announce that the East 2nd Street Rehabilitation Project was selected to receive state funds from the Kansas Department of Transportation’s Spring 2023 Cost Share Program. The project is selected to receive a maximum award of $1,500,000, which will aid in the construction phase.
The rehabilitation will include complete reconstruction of the roadway, reinforced box culvert replacement, as well as new curb and gutter, sidewalk, retaining walls and curb ramps.
“We look forward to partnering with KDOT. Additional funding support from the state allows the City to continue infrastructure improvements in a timely manner, with less overall burden to the City’s budget”, said City Administrator Carl D. Chalfant.
