Services Within The City of Washington
Washington City handles Electric, Water,
and Sewer utilities. Bills are received around the 25th of each month and are due on the tenth of
each month. Shut-off
notices are sent out the 19th of each month. The city has a $100
meter deposit and a $25 non-refundable connection fee for electrical
hookups. The connection fee will be assessed for each hookup, whether for new customers or in-town
moves and also applies for disconnects due to nonpayment of service.
The Washington Power Plant
is staffed from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding
holidays.

Power Plant at 325-2231.

Municipal Court Judge is
the Honorable Paul Monty. Court is held at City Hall. Date and
time are set by the judge.
AT&T is the local
telephone provider. Their number to connect is 1-800-464-7928. They also offer
DSL and internet capabilities.
Kansas Gas Service provides the gas service. Their number is 1-800-794-4780.
Cable TV provider is Blue
Valley Telecommunications. For local service contact Mike
Graham at (785) 325-2237. They also provide high-speed internet access.
Social & Rehabilitation
Services Access Point is located at Washington County Courthouse, 214 C Street.
Call toll free (888) 369-4777. To report abuse, neglect or exploitation,
call the Statewide Protection Report Center at (800) 922-5330 24 hours/day, 7
days/week.
All emergencies are handled through 911.
Non-emergency calls are handled through the Washington County Sheriff’s
office at (785) 325-2293.
Dog and cat licenses are sold at City Hall. Owner must provide proof of rabies
vaccination. Licenses are due June 1 annually and are $5.00 per animal. If the
animal is neutered or spayed, they
are $2.50. Licenses not purchased by June 1st are subject to a late
charge.
